Make that sinking feeling a thing of the past with our data backup and disaster recovery services. Our IT support service will make sure that nothing gets lost and all your precious files are always protected.
It is common knowledge that backups are essential for the functioning of your company. Yet securing your files on an external hard drive, that you leave next to your laptop, may not be enough.
We will work closely with you to ensure that there’s a disaster recovery plan in place in case of floods, fires, terrorism, your computer being stolen etc.
As an important part of your business continuity management, we offer off-site backup solutions – to ensure that all your files are safe and there is as little downtime as possible.
Your company data is one of your most important business assets. In the UK over a third of lost company data includes financial and customer information resulting in significant damage to company reputation and income. Your files can be corrupted or destroyed by viruses, hardware and software failure, important information can also be deleted by accident. Regular data backups will help you protect and restore your data in case something goes wrong.
For small businesses on a limited budget subscription-based cloud storage services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Onedrive and iCloud offer a low-cost option. These services duplicate folders on your hard-drive in the cloud. Any changes that you make to files on your hard-drive are also made to the files held in the cloud. If your files or folders get deleted, corrupted or infected by viruses it is possible to recover them for up to 30 days. However, cloud storage services are not well suited to major issues such as hard-drive failures and crashes.
A NAS is a device that is connected to your company network that allows users to store and retrieve their files and folders in a central location. It’s like having your own company cloud backup within the office, providing your team with fast access to central files without the cost of subscription-based services. We can also set up your NAS so that your company data is always accessible via the internet so that your employees can work from anywhere on any connected device 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We use industry-leading technology from Synology that allow our clients to backup all of their important data, after which regular incremental file backups take place which means that only files that have been changed from the original versions are backed up, saving time and bandwidth.
To protect against any data loss caused by hardware damage to the NAS we also back up your data to the cloud using services provided by Synology C2 and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Data from your NAS devices are regularly backed up to the cloud. Data is transmitted to and stored in the cloud using military-grade encryption technology which means that your important data can only be accessed by you.
Macs have an excellent built-in backup feature called Time Machine. Time Machine will automatically back up all of your team’s files, including apps, music, photos, email, documents, and system files. For small businesses and freelancers, an external hard drive connected to your Mac is often the best option. For larger businesses, we use a Network Attached Storage (NAS). This allows us to back up each of your teams’ Macs to a central location. After an initial backup takes place, Time Machine simply backs up files that have been changed since the last backup while your team keep working.
Backups ensure redundancy so multiple copies of each file exist at all times. Even if files are deleted or corrupted, at least some version of the file can be recovered. It also provides a helpful audit trail so you can track the development of your projects. Some backup services even offer an authentication service that can be used to prove that a certain file was created or edited on a certain date. Data often gets lost in the cloud because of human error or sabotage.
Amazon storage pricing is £0.0035 Pound sterling per GB / Month. Retrieval pricing can range from £0.0020 to £0.0240 Per GB. Synology C2 Backup costs roughly £60 per terabyte (TB) per year, or roughly £5.10 GBP per TB per month.
This takes a full backup of all files and folders stored at a given point in time. Depending on your plan, this will take a daily backup or hourly backup of all your files and folders.
Windows 10 Backup (only comes with Windows 10 Professional) has been the closest equivalent, this works when the laptop or desktop is connected to a pre configured USB drive
We recommend using a cloud based storage system with file versioning, as it’s easy to forget to do manual backups and if they are stored in the same place as the desktop, this could all be lost at once in the event of a flood for instance.
On top of this we recommend running a separate backup to a 3rd party cloud provider, we have one we provide that will backup Office 365 or G-Suite
