So, what kind of help do you need?
Very broadly, our services fall into two areas. First, there’s the “HELP!!!” kind, like when your PC won’t start or your email suddenly packs up. Then there’s the “help” kind, when you need a friendly geek to take care of something important but non-urgent – like setting up a wireless network or showing you how to get the best from your sexy new laptop.
Either way, we’ll be equally happy to hear from you. And please do bear in mind that the list of services on the right isn’t comprehensive. It’s just some of the things we get asked to do most frequently . . .
Computer health-checks: If your machine isn’t running as well as it should, let us check it over for you. We’ll get rid of any nasties, like viruses or advertising software, and we’ll clear out unnecessary files that may be causing the slowdown. We can advise on possible memory upgrades and online back-ups, too.
Wireless network installation: Setting up a wireless network in your home is quick and easy with Dial a Geek. We’ll use secure settings so nobody else can get at your files or “borrow” your broadband.
Getting the best from your computer: Whether you’ve just bought a lovely new laptop and don’t have a clue how to use it, or whether there’s something more specific you want help with – like email attachments, resizing photographs, iTunes setup – you know what you need? A tailored tuition session with a friendly Geek, fluent in everyday English.
Data recovery: Like death and taxes, one thing that’s certain is that your computer’s hard drive will eventually fail – which is why you regularly back up all your important files, don’t you? But all the same, the day may come when you desperately need to recover “lost” data. Whether the root of the problem is a hard drive that’s become corrupted (relatively straightforward) or one with serious mechanical problems (a bit more challenging), it’s Dial a Geek to the rescue!
Laptop security – If you’re regularly on the move with your laptop and it’s full of important and maybe confidential information, let us set up an encryption system for you. Then, if it’s ever lost or stolen, you can be certain nobody else can read your files.
